Live Sync is now available in Ginesys One

Module:

Live Sync

Scenario:

Earlier during ERP sync, ERP dumped data in Web DB and POS downloaded the data from Web DB at the time of its own sync. Then uploaded its own data. And finally ERP downloaded the uploaded data of POS to complete the sync cycle.

Enhancement Summary:

Now, Live Sync allows Ginesys users to access real time data of POS at ERP and vice versa. The new mechanism of Data Sync has removed the Web DB between ERP and POS, minimizing the time lag between updated data of ERP and POS. ERP has been provided with an API as a gateway for data transfer to POS. When the POS makes a call on that API it accesses the data of ERP and also provides its own data.

More information regarding this topic will be available soon.

New POS Backup types have been enabled through Live Sync

Module:

POS Back up

Highlight
  1. Backup needed after migration or restore or recovery.
  2. During backup do not close the  backup window.
  3. After completion of backup, do not close the window from taskbar. Always close by clicking on Close button.
  4. Suggest to change backup policy - Max 2 days, strongly recommended for 1 day for Live Sync.

New POS DB Restore has been enabled after Live Sync

Module:

POS Restore

Enhancement Summary:

Ginesys has

made

made some UI changes to show differential or Transaction Log backup information dynamically.  For that reason Ginesys has introduced a new Tab which will have a API key and Base URL to call ERP

  • If the POS is in Live Sync,

users will
  • users will have Full Backup and Transaction Log Backup to restore. At that time, the Differential backup information tab will be hidden.

  • If the POS is in Web Sync,

 users will
  •  users will have Full Backup and Differential Backup to restore.

At
  • At that time the Transaction Log backup information tab will be hidden.

    Tip

For a store running on Live Sync mode, the DB Restore application will call an API to validate whether the backup set is valid or not. The application will automatically populate the API configuration from the backup set. However, if the API configuration fetched from the backup set is not reachable for any reason, the user will have to provide a valid API configuration in the respective tab to proceed with the restoration.

Scenario:

Previously in Web Sync Ginesys used to take full backup and differential backup .POS backup had been taken using POS Database Backup utility (DBBackup). Where users might have a need to restore the last available POS backup for a multitude of reasons from database corruption due to an abnormal reboot and a system crashed due to hardware fault or OS fault or a planned migration of POS application to different hardware.

Prerequisite checks are now available to run Ginesys POS from Auto Update

Module:

POS Auto Update

Scenario:

Just like the earlier prerequisite checks through Ginesys POS Auto Update; new automated prerequisite checks allow users to update software easily.

Enhancement Summary:

.NET 5.0 Prerequisite Checker is now available in Ginesys POS Auto Update.

Now, when the user will use Auto Update tool, Auto Update will check if the machine contains all the prerequisites or not. If not, then a form will appear named Prerequisite Checker where the user can view all the needed prerequisites at a glance and can install by clicking the “Install” button.

Now, when the user clicks “Apply Selected Updates” if the POS machine doesn’t contain the requirements for a basic POS machine, like the POS machine doesn’t have .NET 5.0 then a new form will appear.

In the Prerequisite checker form, all the pending requirements are shown in the data-grid and user can install all the requirements.

After clicking Install, the button will disable while it is in “Downloading” state.

Now if the user wants to close the Prerequisite window and cancel the download then, the application will give a warning message.

According to the user's wish it’ll then take further actions. But if the user doesn't install the Pre-requisites and close the window, then Auto Update will not proceed for further actions.
