How To: Activate or Deactivate the Scheduled Jobs in the Administration module in Ginesys POS

The Scheduled job service displays all the services that need to automated. They may be small yet immensely important in nature. All these services are defined at HO and then synced to POS. However, the decision to activate or deactivate the services is provided to POS. A user with proper access can activate or deactivate such services.

These services include the following:

  1. Automated Data Synchronization
  2. Scheduled Automated Backup
  3. Software Update Checker

To know the settings made at HO, follow the path: Ginesys Web > Retail Management > Setup > Master Policy > System Settings. For Automated Data Synchronization, look for the the settings made in the Data Synchronization Schedule option.

For Scheduled Automated Backup, look for Full Backup Threshold option. The default settings it is 999 but the ideal setting for it should be 1.

This article describes how to activate or deactivate scheduled services in Ginesys POS.

Pre-requisites

  1. The users' role must have access to the Service Configuration feature by enabling the Modify app operation for the feature in Admin - Security - Roles (Cashier etc) - Access Rights - Administration - System - Configuration.

  2. The jobs must be defined at HO and synced to POS.

Step-by-step guide

The steps are as follows:

  1. Go to Ginesys POS - Administration - System - Configuration - Services - Scheduled Jobs. A list of scheduled jobs appear.

  2. Select the service you want to activate or deactivate.

  3. If you want to activate the service, then click on the Activate Job button.

    If the service is successfully activated, then the checkbox  in the Active column appears selected .

  4. If you want to deactivate the service, then click on the Deactivate Job button.
  5. If you want to manually start the service, then click on the Start button.

    After the service is started, the Service Status shows Running.

  6. If you want to manually stop the service, then click on the Stop button.

    After the service is stopped, the Service Status shows Stopped.
