How To: Create the .xml and share the .rpt file

Whenever any changes are required in the POS Reports the .xml file has to be created in order to generate and share the .rpt file for the modifications to be made by GINESYS. 

This article describes how to create .xml and share .rpt file.

Step-by-step guide

The process is divided in the following steps:

IMPORTANT

Note: Since Version 11.135.0 - 1.135.0; 

An utility has been provided to directly generate the RPT layout and XML of the data of the currently selected record in any POS Back Office Transaction forms. The modules have a button in their list view called, 'Export Data for Report Design'. On clicking the button, a folder is created in the Desktop containing the assigned RPT layout of the form and XML of the data of the currently selected record. 

Note: In case no RPT has been assigned to the form, the default RPT shall get exported.

In case you are using below the version mentioned above, then follow the following steps.

  1. Note down the Cash Memo Number in which the issue has been reported (NOTEPAD).

  2. Now open the Open the file location of GINESYS POS location and locate the REPORTDESIGNHELPER.exe.

  3. Select a radio button Create report data sources or Test New (PrintEngine 2.0) Reports. Now the Fetch Sample Data from Database window opens up. To do so, follow the steps: 

    1. Go to the first field (Select the service) and enter POSInvoiceReport as shown. 
    2. In the Select parameter and fill value (for populating sample data) field, select POSBillDocumentParamBillNo option. 
    3. Enter the noted cash memo number beside POSBillNo under the Misc section. 
    4. Then click on Fetch Data button. 
    5. A dialog box appears saying that report data has been loaded properly and asks you if you want to view the data. 
    6. Click on No. 

  4. . Provide the details in the following order: 
    1. In the Select the Crystal Report File section, provide the path for the .rpt file. To do so

      1. Go to C:\Users\Windows user login(Administrator)\AppData\Roaming\GINESYS\Reports\ReportLayout\ POSInvoice.rpt.

      2. Copy the POSInvoice.rpt  and paste in the Desktop.

      3. Select the above path in the Select the Crystal Report File section.
    2. Enter <RPT CHANGE Name> in the Catalogue Name bar. 

    3. Enter <000.000.001> in the Catalogue Version bar. 

    4. Enter <Desktop location> in Publish in Location bar. Click on Publish button. 

    5. A window appears saying- Datasource version <000.000.001> published successfully. 

    6. It also asks if you want to view the published data. Click on No. 

  5. Now POSBillDocument.xml, Catalogue.xml and POSInvoice.rpt - files can be found in the desktop. 

  6. Create a .rar or .zip file on your desktop.

  7. Attach this .rar or .zip to your Change Request ticket raised in Ginesys Care portal.

Important change in behavior of Ginesys Dashboard - POS Report Template

Version -11.147.0 onward users can Add / Edit POS Report Layouts by importing the raw .rpt and .repx files. They would not need to create and import the Report Package for both the .rpt and .repx type.
