How To: Test the Local Database connection at HO
Sometimes it is necessary to check if the database is connected to the applications. You may need to check both the ends, I.e., at the store (or POS) and the HO. This article describes how to test the local database connection at HO.
Step-by-step guide
The steps are as follows:
Go to Ginesys Launchpad - Database Locator. The Database Locator window opens.
Note: The details like Host, Service, Data Source, Username and Password are already present.
- Click on the Test Connection button.
- If you have a successfully connection, then the message - Database connection successful for SYSTEM and <Username> user. - will be displayed on the screen. Click OK.
If you do not have a successfully connection, then the message - Database connection failed - will be displayed on the screen. Click OK.
To know the reason for the failed database connection, check the error log.
- Click on the Close button to close the Database Locator window.
OR
- Go to the GINESYS Desktop icon and right click on it. Click on the Open File Location option from the drop-down.
- Go to the Shared folder following the path: <Installed drive>\GSL\GINESYS12\Shared.
- Search for DatabaseLocator and double click on it to open it. It also opens the Database Locator window. Now follow the above mentioned steps and complete the test.
