How To: Use the Event Viewer
Event Viewer is a Windows feature which allows you to view the event logs on a local or remote machine. This article describes how to use the Event Viewer.
Step-by-step guide
The steps are as follows:
- Go to Windows search and type Event Viewer and click OK (or press Enter) or go to Run (by pressing Windows + R key together) and type eventvwr.mscand click OK (or press Enter). Event Viewer opens.
- If you want to view logs, then
Click on the Windows Logs option on the left hand side. It displays the following options -
- Application - This allows you to view the logs of applications.
- Security - This allows you to view the security logs.
- Setup - Using this you can view setup logs.
- System - This allows you to view the system logs.
- Forwarded Events - Using this you can view the events written by other computers in the same network that have forwarded their events to the "collector computer".
