Checking web database connectivity from GINESYS HO

The 'web database' is the database component in GINESYS that in most cases is hosted outside the core GINESYS infrastructure for high availability and speed. The web database is a SQL Server 2008 R2 or higher versioned database which acts as a transient data store between HO and POS stores. It also stores the tables for Global Credit Notes, Customers, Loyalty Point Redemptions, Gift Voucher Redemptions. Having a high-speed and high-availability connection to the web database is important for smooth operations of GINESYS. However, often it is found that connections to the web database is not available due to:

  1. No Internet
  2. Unstable Internet
  3. Interception by Firewall / Anti-Virus software

Follow the steps given below to check the web database connectivity from software from GINESYS HO:

Log on to GINESYS Web.

Go to POS Manager > Utilities > Configure > Web database.

Select the Web Database whose connection you wish to test.

Go to Action and Click on "Test Current Connection".

It will tell you if the connection is successful.
