AutoUpdate_AWSDLL.zip

This set of files is required for using the Auto Update utility for HO and POS starting with version Auto Update 7.0 of POS and version HO Update 6.0 of HO.

Extract the output of the zip into the application folder. Two DLLs will be extracted, AWSSDK.Core.dll and AWSSDK.S3.dll.

IMPORTANT: Future versions of Auto Updates may remove FTP support completely

AutoUpdate File Set

Ginesys HO Auto Update utility:
This utility is not dependent on any particular version of Ginesys HO and can be used to update any version of the software. After Ginesys HO installation you must replace the HOAutoUpdate.exe (the utility loader) file which was supplied with the installation with the one available here. Once the AutoUpdate utility launches, as a best practice, you must check for updated utility using the 'Check for update' link. This downloads and updates the main utility file HOAutoUpdate2.exe . In some cases you may need to download HOAutoUpdate2.exe file manually for troubleshooting any issue in launching the utility.

Installation Process:

1. Download the files and move in the \GINESYS12\Shared subfolder in your GINESYS installation

2. Overwrite existing files when message box pops up for confirmation

Ginesys POS Auto Update utility:
This utility is not dependent on any particular version of GINESYS POS and can be used to update any version of the software. In general you need not to download the utilities manually if you use the latest POS installation pack (current version 1.146.2). The files may need to be replaced manually for troubleshooting any error in launching the utility.

Installation Process:

1. Download the files and move in the \GINESYS POS subfolder in your Ginesys POS installation

Crystal Reports 13.0.20 runtime engine for 64 bit Windows. This runtime is required to run any Text Mode document report in POS and all document reports in HO. The version 13.0.8 of this was supplied with the 100 series pack. The latest version can be downloaded here.

DBRestore.exe

The latest version of Database Restore utility for GINESYS POS. This utility is version agnostic, i.e. this can be used with any version of POS software. It is recommended that you always do your POS database restoration with this utility.

Barcode printing font. This font is required to print barcodes in GINESYS POS or HO in any crystal report document. This is automatically installed while POS installation but it has been observed that in some cases, this font file got missing and barcodes were not printed anymore.

Download the font file from here and put it in C:\WINDOWS\Fonts folder. No separate installation would be necessary.

Ionic.Zip.dll

Zip compressor/decompressor assembly. This utility is used by several GINESYS modules of both POS and HO, including the AutoUpdate utilities. Though it is automatically installed via the installation routine of GINESYS HO and POS, it has been observed that some anti-virus software wrongly removes this file.

Download this file from here and put it in application folder of POS or HO.

Oracle Data Access Components for 12.1.0.2.4. In case you need to re-install ODAC and you cannot find the installation disk you can download the latest version required by GINESYS HO from here.

How to install ODAC:

1. To install extract the content into a folder like C:\ODAC64_Installer.

2. Open a Command Window in Administrator Mode

3. Go to the C:\ODAC64_Installer folder

4. Run the following command.

install all C:\ODAC64_12c ODAC64

To uninstall, go to the C:\ODAC64_12c folder from command prompt in Administrator mode and run the following command.

uninstall all C:\ODAC64_12c

IMPORTANT:

1. The Command Window from which the installation is done MUST be opened in Administrator mode while installation.

2. This command will install both Unmanaged and Managed Data Access versions of ODAC 12.1.0.2.4. If you have installed this version then you will not need to separately install the Managed Data Access version of ODAC.

3. Future versions of GINESYS will use only Managed Data Access versions of ODAC (next link below).

4. However, in case you are already using a GINESYS with Managed Data Access and for some reason uninstall this installation of ODAC then you will need to re-install the Managed ODAC from the next link below.

SQL Server Management Studio (17.2). It supports SQL Server 2008 through SQL Server 2017.Generally not required, but in some cases this might be required in GINESYS HO to view and manage the web database from the HO infrastructure.

Download and run the exe to install. This installer is common for both the Windows architecture (32 bit & 64 bit).

SQL Command Line Tools setup for 32bit Windows. This utility (SQLCMD) is used by the Auto Update utilities at HO and POS. This is automatically installed by the POS / HO installation routine.

Process Explorer utility. This utility is not used by GINESYS HO or POS directly. This utility helps detect which application is locking a file (DLL) in a manner that the folder containing the references cannot be deleted. E.g. often it is observed that the ODAC installation folders cannot be removed cleanly since the OCI.DLL is already in use. Use the process explorer utility to find which process is locking the OCI.DLL file.

This is a portable utility, i.e. it can be run from anywhere. Run the utility and go to the FIND menu. Give the name of the assembly that is being shows as 'in use' and hit ENTER. The name of the processes (executables) will be shown in the list. You can then kill/close the relevant processes and cleanup the folder.

This zip folder contains the GINESYS Report Application files. Download this zip file and follow the setup guide to configure GINESYS Reports in your application server.
