Ginesys Version 11.145.9 carries with it the updated version of Cube Manager. The fully functional Cube Manager can be enjoyed by updating to this Ginesys version. This article relates to updating 11.145.9 along with Cube Manager.

Steps to follow

  1. The new version of Auto Updater(version 12) will have to be downloaded before update of Ginesys version 11.145.9

    What is new in Ginesys version 11.145.9?

    In Ginesys version 11.145.9, the new OLAP version has been released. A new UI for Setup of OLAP Database and a new update tool for the same has also been provided.

  2. Update Ginesys HO and the following message is seen -"There was some issue while updating OLAP database". The user has two (2) options - he can either update till the latest available version (i.e. 11.145.9 or higher) or he can update to any available version below it.

    1. The user will need to Configure Cube Manager, if he updates till latest version (i.e. 11.145.9 or higher).


      Note:

      • Oracle Enterprise Edition is not supported. The Ginesys Version will not be updated in this case.
      •                   There may be other reason for software version not being updated.
      • Custom logic, if applied, in generic cubes will be overwritten with generic behavior; if required the custom logic has to be re-applied with the help of Ginesys Care.
      • Schedules already defined for Cube-sets will be terminated and have to be re-scheduled after Cube Manager setup is done.



       Configuration /Setup of Cube Manager

      1. Users, implementing Cube Manager in Ginesys Database Server itself, can use the  Integrated Reporting Instance - it can be created by clicking on the check-boxes – Same as Ginesys Database Server; this will ensure that the same server name appears in both Cube Read Database and Cube Write Database connections.

        Steps to Configure:

        1. In Cube Read Database - check the box - Same as Ginesys Database Server.          
        2. In Cube Write Database - check the box - Same as Ginesys Database Server.
        3. Click on Configure button on bottom left of window to save, test connection and configure the new Cube Manager.

      2. In case, a Ginesys user has more than one database connection or wishes to optimize OLAP performance by Separated Reporting Instance, they should log a ticket in Ginesys Care

        Difference between Setup and Configuration

        Although customers already using Cube Manager and customers new to Cube based reporting both will have to click the Configure button after providing the connection details to the databases - there is a small difference between the two.

        Customers new to Ginesys or Cube-based reporting will be doing a 1st time Setup - they will immediately be able to work with Cube Manager.

        Existent customers of Cube Manager will Configure the Database Objects and then have to return to HO Auto Update to click on Update OLAP Database button to sync the OLAP Database Schema.

    2. The user can just close the Auto Updater and restart Ginesys services and start working in the software, if he updates to any version below 11.145.9.

      OLAP Version

      Note: If the user updates to a version less than 11.145.9; The OLAP version would show as N.A.


  3. For an existing user of OLAP Database, the OLAP Schema Sync process has to be completed by clicking on Update OLAP Database button, in the Tools tab of the HO Auto Updater.

  4. Click on the Update OLAP Database button, OLAP Database version will be checked by the system. There can be two (2) possibilities to the situation - The OLAP version related changes are already affected or the changes are pending.

    1. If the OLAP version related changes are already affected, the following message will be displayed - “Cube Manager is already updated till latest available version.” and the user can open and work in Cube Manager module as usual.

    2. If the OLAP version related changes are pending, then the OLAP Database will updated. Last available "OLAP Version" will be displayed in the Auto Updater beside the Serial number for the license.
    3. Close the Auto Updater window.
