"Missing operand before '/' operator." - Error message is shown on multiple scenarios

SYMPTOMS


"Missing operand before '/' operator." - Error message is shown on multiple scenarios. In other words, other symbols like '/', '#', etc appears in place of '.' at POS. The scenarios where the error appears are - in the search result of item search with barcode, the quantity field in the Payment section in POS Bill creation, or in various other utilities like GINESYS POS UPDATE, etc.

  

CAUSE


A probable reason for the error is that the operating system's Decimal Symbol field was replaced (from '.' to '/' or '#', etc) .

                   

RESOLUTION


  1. Using Windows search, search for Region & Language settings.

    You can also find the Region & Language settings in the Control Panel directly.

  2. Under the Formats tab, click on the Additional Settings button. This opens the Customize Formats window.

  3. Under the Numbers tab, go to the Decimal Symbol field and type in '.' or select '.' from the drop-down.

  4. Click OK in the Customize Format window.

  5. Click OK in the Region window.
