SYMPTOMS

When the user tries to access the Easypoints of a Easyrewardz registered customer, he is unable to do so and the following error message is displayed - The request failed with HTTP status 417: Expectation Failed. The system failed to retrieve the required information. Do you wish to retry?

CAUSE

One of the probable causes for the above error to be displayed is the existence of an enabled proxy setting environment in the user's system. In the enterprise, proxy settings are required to access a proxy server, to facilitate security, administrative control or caching services, among other purposes. It is a dedicated computer or a software system running on a computer and acts as an intermediary between a computer, and another server from which a service is requested.

RESOLUTION

The resolution of the above issue requires the disabling of the proxy settings in your LAN environment and then follow the same business process as before.

To disable proxy settings in LAN - 

1. For Windows 10:

   
   
   1. Open Settings from Windows Run.
   2. Click Network & Internet to view a list of the network- and Internet-related settings appears.
   3. Click Proxy to view list of available proxy settings, if any.
   4. In the Manual Proxy Setup section, set the Use a Proxy Server switch to Off.
   5. Click Save; then close the Settings window.
      
      

2. For Windows 7 (using the GUI):
   
   

   1. Go to Start. 
   2. Open Control Panel. 
   3. Select Network and Internet. 
   4. Open Internet Options. 
   5. Go to Connections tab. 
   6. Finally go to LAN Settings.
   7. Then uncheck and disable the Proxy Settings.
