How To: Use the Select Item button in Ginesys Web

The Select Item button is found in a number of forms in almost all the modules. Forms like Put Away and Take Away in the Inventory module, Owned, Franchise and Secondary (under Store), Fulfilled by Marketplace and Fulfilled by Seller (under E-Commerce) in Sales & Distribution module, Assortment (under Promotion) in Retail Management module etc. This article describes how to Select Items button in Ginesys Web.

Step-by-step guide

The steps are as follows:

  1. Click on the Select Item button. This opens the Select Items window. Here, you will notice two tabs - Select Criteria and Searched Items.

    While the Select Criteria tab is used to search the required item / items using the various search criteria, the Searched Item tab displays the searched item / items.

  2.  Go to the Search Criteria tab.

    This tab contains 4 panels. They are - General, Additional, Documents and Others. On clicking the drop-down  arrows beside the tabs, they open to display certain fields which help you to search your items easily and quickly. They are as follows:

    1. General - The General tab has the following search criteria - Barcode, Division, Section, Department, Article Name and Category 1-6.

      For General and Additional panels

      Each of these search criteria has 2 drop-down fields beside them (except for Barcode, which has one drop-down and one text field). The first drop-down  list contains certain values using which the items in the second field are searched. These values are -

      1.    Contains - By default, Contains remains selected. This option looks for items which contain the value mentioned in the other field.
      2.    Start with - This option looks for items which starts with the value mentioned in the other field.
      3.    End with - This option looks for items which ends with the value mentioned in the other field.
      4.    Equals - This option looks for items which are identical to the value mentioned in the other field.
      5.    Is blank - If this option is used, then the system will look for items where that particular field is blank.
      6.    Is not blank - If this option is used, then the system will look for items where that particular field is not blank.
    2. Additional - The Additional tab has the following search criteria - Description 1-6 and Number 1-3.
    3. Documents - The Documents tab has the following search criteria - Document Type, Document Date, Document No. and Stock Point Name.

      The fields - Populate Item Quantity from above Source and Populate Rate from selected Document - help you to populate the item quantity and price of the item directly from the source documents, respectively.


    4. Others - The Others tab has the following search criteria - RSP, MRP, WSP, Standard Rate, Supplier Name, Creation Date and Modification Date.

      For the Others panel

      The drop-down field in this panel contains certain value. They are:

      1.    Range between - This option looks for items which are within the range of values mentioned in the other fields.
      2.    Equals - This option looks for items which are identical to the values mentioned in the other fields.
      3.    Greater than - This option looks for items which are greater than the values mentioned in the other fields.
      4.    Greater than equal to - This option looks for items which are greater than or identical to the values mentioned in the other fields.
      5.    Less than - This option looks for items which are lesser than the values mentioned in the other fields.
      6.    Less than equal to - This option looks for items which are lesser than or identical to the values mentioned in the other fields.
  3. Click on the Search button.

  4. The searched item is displayed in the Searched Items tab.

  5. Type the quantity in the Quantity column and click on Populate.The item will be added.

  6. To add more items, first click on the Reset button and then repeat the same steps as mentioned above.

  7. Once all the required items are populated, click on Close button to close the Select Items window.
