How To: Manage Return Menu in Ginesys POS

While every retailer tries his best to satisfy each customer, it will definitely happen some time or the other that a customer wishes to return something bought from the store and either buy something else or get a refund. GINESYS POS accommodates such scenarios through the Return button in the POS module or by pressing F7.

Suppose, a customer (Mr. X) wishes to return certain items he has bought. The following scenarios may develop in this case and explained in detail (follow the links):

Scenario 1

Mr. X has come with his POS invoice/bill and wishes to return all items.

Scenario 2

Mr. X has come with his POS invoice/bill and wishes to return selective items.

Scenario 3

Mr. X has come without a POS invoice/bill and wishes to return some items.

The menu of this button has two (2) options - 

Search Bill

Return Reason

Note: The terminals can be designated to be exclusively return counters by clicking on the toggle option of Return Mode is ON in the Tasks button (F5). It can always be changed back by clicking on the same option, however, the prompt shall now be Return Mode is OFF.



In case of Promotional Items:


In case of promotional item, the return of such an item depends solely on the settings made by the HO. While some organizations do not allow the return of promotional items, a few might allow it. But the return must be done within the stipulated period of time, preferably within the promotional period. However, if the customer does not have the bill and wishes to return a promotional item, he must make the return within the promotional period.

If the customer carries the bill to return a promotional item  , steps for Scenario 1 or Scenario 2 might be followed depending on - if he is returning all the items or a selection from them. 
The customer will then either be given a refund of the discounted amount or a similar credit note of the discounted amount.


Example: Mr. X wants to return an item ( Barcode : A001) whose original price is 100, but he bought it at a promotional price of 90. He will either be refunded90 only in cash or will be given a credit note of value 90 (as configured in the software).
GINESYS also offers ad hoc return of items. This allows users to accept item return ad hoc without a bill, just like in  .
In the above example, in case of ad hoc return without bill, Mr. X will be refunded  90 or given a credit note of  value 90 in exchange of the returned promotional item but within the promotional period only. Once the promotional period is expired ad hoc return of promotional items will not be possible at GINESYS POS.
