How To: Manage Session Manager in Ginesys POS
Previously the session was applicable only for the POS transactions. But sometimes it might be required to manage session from POS Back Office. Now, it is mandatory to start a new Store Session at the beginning of the day. No transaction is possible without stating the session. This article describes how to manage Store Sessions using Session Manager in Ginesys POS.
Pre-requisites
- The users' role must have access to the Session Manager feature by enabling the Enter Opening Amount and Enter Closing Amount app operation for the feature in Admin - Role - User Role - User's role (Cashier etc) - Access Rights - Back Office - POS Control.
Step-by-step guide
The steps are as follows:
- Click on POS Control>Session Manager.
- Session Manager window will open.
- Click on Create Session option.
- A new session is created successfully - message will be displayed.
- Click on OK to start a new session.
Click on Enter Opening Amount. A window will open to enter opening amount.
It is good practice to enter Opening Amount every time after session start.
- Enter the required value for the Opening Amount and click on OK.
- Clicking on Drawer Summary will allow you to view a report on the transaction carried out for that session till the time of report being run.
- Click on Enter Closing Amount before closing the session.
- A Close Session Details window will open.
- Select the MOP Name. If you select Cash, then you may have to provide denomination counts, to do so click on MOP Count Details.
- A MOP Count Details window will open. Enter the Denomination value and Quantity. The total amount will be auto calculated.
- Click on OK.
- Click on Close Session button.
- A dialog box appears asking you - This operation will close the current session. Are you sure? - You can either click on Yes to confirm your selection or click on No if you wish to continue the session.
- If you click on Yes, Session closed successfully - message will display.
- Click on OK to close the current session.
- If you haven't entered the Opening Amount and Closing Amount, a warning will appears asking you to enter Opening Amount and Closing Amount. Click on OK. Enter those details and repeat from Step 14 again.
- The Close Session (Blind) option enables you to close the session whenever necessary, without having to enter the Opening Amount and Closing Amount.
- Click on Close Session (Blind).
- A dialog box appears asking you This operation will close the current session. Are you sure? - You can either click on Yes to confirm your selection or click on No if you wish to continue the session.
- If you click on yes, the session will close and you will get a message - Session closed successfully.
- Click on Close Session (Blind).
Note: POS Terminal sessions are independent of the Session Manager at POS Back Office.
