How To: Do the Terminal Device Configuration
The Terminal Device Configuration is a part of the Ginesys POS Tools menu for Normal POS, POS as Delivery Slip and POS as Collection Centre. This configuration basically lets the application know which ports may be used for RFID (Radio-Frequency IDentification used for swiping loyalty and credit/debit cards), VFD (Vacuum Fluorescent Display for customer information at counters) and Weighing Machines.
Step-by-step guide
The steps involved are:
- Go to the Tools menu or press F6 in the POS / Delivery Slip / Collection Centre module.
- Click on Terminal Device Configuration and the Other Information window opens.
- In the Other Information window, three required ports can be tagged.
- RFID port
- VFD port
- Weighing Machine port
- Click on the drop-downs beside any of the options and the Port Lookup window opens.
All relevant ports are displayed in the Port Lookup window, select the port where the instrument has to listen.
The ports relevant to these are generally the COM port (Communication Port) but currently the devices come with USB compliance.
Click on OK to save the port values and restart the Ginesys POS application for the configuration to take effect.
