How To: Turn on or off Windows Features
Most features required in any Windows operating system are already turned on. But sometimes, it is needed to either put some features on or off, manually. This article guides you through this process.
Step-by-step guide
TURNING ON/OFF WINDOWS FEATURES IN WINDOWS SERVER 2008 r2
- Press the Press Windows key (WIN) and R keys together. Windows key is the key between the Control and Alt key on the left hand side of the keyboard with a sign on it.
- At the command prompt, type in: ‘ServerManagerCmd.exe’ without the quotes.
- Click on Turn Windows Features on or off.

- Click the Start button.
- Click Control Panel.
- Click Programs.
- Click Turn Windows features on or off.
- If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
- To turn a Windows feature

- Click Settings.
- Click Turn Windows features on or off. You might be asked for an admin password or to confirm your choice.
- To turn a Windows feature on, select the check box next to the feature. To turn a Windows feature off, clear the check box.
- Tap or click OK.
