How To: Configure the Data Sync Scheduler for POS

Executing manual sync frequently, is a tedious job. Therefore, a sync auto schedule process is set by the HO for all its POS sites, to sync data automatically to and from the HO. This article describes how to configure the POS data sync scheduler at HO.

Pre-requisites

  1. The users' role must have the access to the Master Policy feature by enabling the Modify app operation for the feature in Ginesys Web - Retail Management - Setup - Manage.

Step-by-step guide

The steps are as follows:

  1. Go to Ginesys Web - Retail Management - Setup - Manage - Master Policy. The Data Exchange Dashboard module opens.

  2. Now click on the System Settings tab.

  3. Click on the Data Synchronization Schedule option to open the Schedule Configuration window.

  4. Select the schedule type from the Schedule Type option. There are two options available here:

    1. Recurring (This feature helps you to set the schedule manually. On selecting this option, the sync shall start and end at the set time only.)

    2. On Startup (On selecting this feature, the sync will start right after the system is started. On selecting this option, the rest of the window gets disabled automatically.)

      Example: The system is started at 8 am; Schedule Type selected is Recurring and the Starting at time is set at 9 am, then the sync will start at 9 am.

      Whereas, if Schedule Type selected is On Startup, then the sync will start at 8 am, exactly when the system is started. 

      The Schedule Type field is mandatory.

  5. In the Recurrence Pattern section, fill in the Occurs (Daily or Weekly)and Recurs every to set the interval of sync.

    Depending on the selection made in the Occurs field, the prompt changes from Days - for Daily -  to Weeks - for Weekly - field.

    If you select Weekly, you also need the select the day on which you want the sync to run. You may select any of the days (Monday - Sunday) from displayed.


  6. In the Daily section, fill in the following details:
    1. If you want to sync the data at a certain time of the day theselect the Occurs at field and fill in the time at which you want to sync the data.

      The format to input the time is: HH:MM followed by AM or PM.

    2. If you want to sync the data after certain intervals time thenselect the Occurs every field and fill in the interval time at after which you want to sync the data.

      The first field is a numeric field, which allows you to enter the time (like 30) and the next field allows you to select between the two units of time - Minutes or Hours.

      You also need to enter the Starting at and Ending at time. This allows you to decide the time between which you want to keep syncing you data at the set interval of time.

      Example: The first field is set to: 30; The next field: Minutes;

      Starting at time: 8:00 am and Ending at time: 11:00 pm.

      This setting means that the system will auto sync itself at an interval of every 30 minutes starting from 8am till 11pm.

      Minimum gap between two autosyncs should not be less than 15min (Recommended). This will ensure that in case of any problems with the sync application minimal data loss will occur.

  7. In the Duration section, fill in the following details:
    1. Start Date (Enter the date from which you want to start the autosync process)
    2. End Date (Enter the date till which you want to run the autosync process)
    3. No End Date (If you want to run the autosync process indefinitely, then click on this option)

  8. The Summary section gives the summary of the schedule set in a sentence format.

  9. Once done, click on OK.

  10. Click on the Save button.
