Managing Print Barcode Label in Inventory

Barcode is applied to products as a means of quick identification so every item has to be barcoded before any transaction is performed with it. It is a small image of parallel black lines and white spaces . Barcode is used for purchase process in retail stores. It is also used in warehouses to track inventory, and on invoices to assist in accounting etc. 

This article shows you how to print barcode label in Inventory.


Prerequisites

  1. The user's role must have the Add and Edit application operation enabled for  Admin - Utilities - Manage - Barcode Print File  through Roles in Ginesys Web - Admin - Security

  2. Ginesys Barcode Printing Client (WCPP app) has to be downloaded and installed to handle all your printing. You will be prompted for downloading and installing the app as soon as you try to print barcode for the first time.

    • Just click on the link to download. The link appears when you click on the Print Barcode.

    • In your Download folder locate wcpp-4.0.18.109 and double-click to install the app.

    • You will be asked to confirm the location of installation. Select the proper location and click Next.

    • Click on Next.

    • Your app is successfully installed.

    • Refresh your web page and you are ready to print barcodes from the web modules.


Note: Now, Ginesys will not support $ based barcode printing files, so all Ginesys users working with such files need to raise a ticket in care.ginesys.in for assistance on changing the $ based barcode printing files to UPS mode barcode printing file.

Step-by-step guide

These are the steps involved:

  1. Go to Inventory > Product Definition > Setup > Print Barcode Label.

  2. A popup window will be opened.

  3. There will be two option for price Source - i. Item Master ii. Price Control .

    Impact of Batch/Serial functionality on Print Barcode Label

    • UI/UX

      • New Column for Batch/Serial number has been added in item grid and  it is hidden by default.

      • Column details - Batch/Serial Number, Batch MFG Date and Valid UpTo

    • On scan/selection of item, if batch/serial managed item found,

      • Option has been provided for selection of Batch number/ Serial number. 
        Exception: Items along with batch/serial info. will be populated directly to the main grid, when populated via ‘Document Search’ criteria

      • Batch/Serial selection related

        • If the pricing is at batch level, then batch/serial selection is mandatory.

          • Pricing related fields/data will be displayed from batch level.

          • Otherwise, batch/serial selection is optional.

    • New Printable Parameters:

      • Batch/Serial Number

      • Batch MFG Date

      • Valid Upto

      • Batch Separator (If Any)

      • All Available UDFs

    • For Pricing information, if price is at Batch/serial level then pricing field will reflect batch/serial pricing.
    • No batch related information can be changed from print barcode label form.
  4.  Item Master

    1. If Item Master is selected then site and Price as on Date field will be disabled.

           b. Next a drop down list will be shown for Print Barcode for field. There will be three option in the dropdown list - All Items, Items with OEM Barcode, Items without OEM Barcode. 

                              • All Items option is to print all the items which will be selected. It is default value.

                              • Items with OEM Barcode is for printing the items which have OEM Barcode.

                              • Items without OEM Barcode is for printing the items which don't have OEM Barcode.

           c. Then print Sequence option has to be chosen from the drop down list. There will be two option in the drop down list - As Populated, Barcode.

                              • As Populated means the items will be printed as per the selection item list. It is default value for this field.

                              • Barcode means the printing process will be done as per barcode sequence.

           d. Select Items from available option(Scan, Barcode).


           e. Items will be populated to the Print Barcode Label window, click on Print.

           f. Print


  5.  Price Control

      

    1. If Price Control is selected then site and Price as on Date field will be enabled.

                  b. Site has to be chosen from given option.

                  c. Price as on date is to be set.  

                  d. Next a dropdown list will be shown for Print Barcode for field. There will be three option in the dropdown list - All Items, Items with OEM Barcode, Items without OEM Barcode. 

                             • All Items option is to print all the items which will be selected. It is default value.

                              • Items with OEM Barcode is for printing the items which have OEM Barcode.

                              • Items without OEM Barcode is for printing the items which don't have OEM Barcode.

                  e. Then print Sequence option has to be chosen from the drop down list. There will be two option in the dropdown list - As Populated, Barcode.

                              • As Populated means the items will be printed as per the selection item list. It is default value for this field.

                              • Barcode means the printing process will be done as per barcode sequence.

                   f. Select Items from available option(Scan, Barcode).

                   g. After coming back to the Print Barcode Label window, click on Print.

                   h. Print

    Last receipt date of an item Will be available from version 12.4.4 onwards.
