How To: Add an application in IIS manager

Application Pools need to be created to ensure that multiple applications running on a single server have enough server resources for optimum performance. 

Step-by-step guide

Add the directory following the steps given below:

Open IIS Manager by using the Explorer search box.

Select the directory or drive where the new virtual drive will be located.

Right click and open the menu to select - "Add Application"

In the Add Application window, provide the following -

  • Alias
  • Application Pool
  • Physical Path

IMPORTANT

Note : You may have to create new folders as you provide the Physical Path.

Note: When following these steps to install GINESYS Reports module, the GINESYSReportAPI and GINESYSReportUI applications need to be under GinesysReportAppPool and GINESYSImages needs to be under DefaultAppPool.

Then provide read/write access to the folder for application pool user.

Right click the folder which has to be accessed and select Properties option.

In the File Property window, Security tab; select the user whose permission has to be given.

Now click the Edit button and then tick the Allow checkbox beside the appropriate prompts.

Click on Apply button and then Ok.
